This Week's Question:

Is it better in terms of search engine rankings to have a .com domain over a .net, .org, etc.?  I've heard that by having a .com extension helps your site rank better.

Kristine's Answer:

Relax.  There is no ranking difference when it comes to .com, .net or any other domain extension.

Where it does come into play however is with your site visitors.  Most people will automatically assume that your site is a ".com".  You must make it absolutely clear what your domain extension is when advertising your website so that users don't end up visiting your competition instead.

Until next time,

Kristine
